Episyrphus is a genus of hoverflies in the subfamily Syrphinae. Larvae are predatory, often on aphids. One species, E. balteatus, has a cosmopolitan distribution.

Episyrphus balteatus failed to exhibit enhanced behavioural responses, in terms of approaches and landings, to artificial leaves with the highest numbers of aphids, suggesting that females are merely responding to the colour of the artificial leaves.
